More than 130 lots from a long-established Norwich bakery are being sold for the joint liquidators of Linzers Bakery Ltd. They cover every stage of production, from mixing and proving to baking, slicing and packing.
The Linzers name has been part of Norwich’s bakery trade since the 1980s. It started with a shop on London Street and later moved to a purpose-built production site on the Sweet Briar Road industrial estate, supplying bread and cakes across East Anglia.
Linzers Bakery Ltd entered creditors’ voluntary liquidation on 29 September 2026, and Andrew Little and Gillian Sayburn of BTG Begbies Traynor were appointed joint liquidators. BTG Eddisons Asset Sales has been instructed to sell the bakery’s plant and equipment in a timed online auction of 133 lots.
A full production line
Bakery closures often leave a few ovens and some refrigeration behind, but this sale covers the whole process. Dough starts in two Fabris Luca Effedue F2 mixers, a Hobart H600 planetary mixer and spiral mixers from Crypto Peerless and Hobart. It’s portioned on an MF Benini Calybra volumetric divider from 2017 and a Millers Vanguard roll divider. Then it’s shaped and proved through a Millers Vanguard carousel proofer and two stainless steel proving chambers.
The baking capacity includes a 2018 Acrivarn three-rack gas oven, Tom Chandley Compacta and Bake Mate four-deck ovens and an APV four-deck steam oven. After baking come two Matas Hercules bread slicers, a Kemplex SF600 pastry laminator and an Islapak heat-shrink packaging machine with date printer and label dispenser. Williams, Inomak and True refrigeration, stainless steel preparation tables and wash stations complete the sale.
Rising opportunities
Commercial bakery equipment is built to last for decades, and makes such as Tom Chandley and Millers Vanguard have well-established secondhand markets. Equipment like this rarely leaves the trade. It usually moves on to another craft bakery, café or food producer that’s expanding or replacing worn kit.
Viewing, bidding and collection
The auction is live now, with lots closing from 10am on Thursday 5 November 2026. Viewing is at 3 Albertine Close, Norwich NR3 2FA, on Wednesday 4 November from 11am to 2pm, strictly by appointment. Book by Tuesday 3 November on 0161 429 5800. Collection is on Tuesday 10 and Wednesday 11 November, also by appointment. Several lots need disconnection by a qualified contractor, and buyers are responsible for decommissioning and removal. A 15 per cent buyer’s premium applies, plus VAT.
