When a company is liquidated, its assets are sold in an insolvent liquidation auction in order to raise funds to fulfil financial obligations. The term liquidation refers to the process of closing a company with debts and selling assets to settle them with creditors. Examples of creditors include HMRC, suppliers, or other parties who are owed money.
