Project
BTG Eddisons was instructed on the disposal and site clearance of the contents of a large 8-acre commercial dairy facility in Derbyshire on behalf of Müller Dairies. The project involved the coordinated sale of plant, machinery and associated equipment following the cessation of operations at the site.
The key objective was to maximise asset realisation while managing complex logistics across a live decommissioning and demolition environment.
Approach
BTG Eddisons delivered a fully integrated disposal and site management strategy, beginning with immediate site security measures, including the appointment of RemoteZone to install temporary gated access and establish a controlled “air-lock” system.
A global marketing campaign was implemented to maximise exposure of the plant and machinery, utilising trade press, internal databases, subscription platforms and sector-specific social media channels.
A structured disposal programme was delivered by combining negotiated sales and online auction processes. BTG Eddisons also coordinated dismantling and removal operations, appointing and managing specialist machinery contractors to ensure safe extraction, loading and transportation of retained assets.
Health and safety compliance was managed throughout by a NEBOSH-qualified Health and Safety Manager, with RAMS reviewed and approved for all contractors operating on site. Close coordination with demolition contractors ensured safe sequencing of works, including the creation of access routes for equipment removal.
Additional support was provided to overseas purchasers, including assistance with dismantling, packaging, transport and international shipping arrangements.
Results
The coordinated approach enabled the successful disposal of the dairy’s plant and equipment within agreed timescales, while maintaining full control of a complex, multi-contractor site environment.
The combination of global marketing reach, structured asset realisation strategies and robust site management ensured maximum value recovery for the client.
The project demonstrated BTG Eddisons’ capability in delivering large-scale industrial disposals, integrating auctioneering, logistics, health and safety, demolition coordination and international buyer support into a single managed solution.
