A combined heat and power (CHP) unit removed from a hospital site in Boston, Lincolnshire, has gone to online auction through BTG Eddisons Asset Sales.
The 2008 GE Jenbacher gas engine, paired with a Stamford generator, was taken out of service as the site's energy plant was upgraded. It is now being sold via a timed online auction, closing from 1pm on Tuesday 4 August.
The asset
The unit is rated at 526kW, with a voltage of 415/240V and current of 732A. It is housed in a 40ft container with a partitioned wiring room, and the sale includes the original engine spare parts manual, wiring diagram manual, a tank, and Guntner fans with associated pipework.

The benefits of buying decommissioned P&M
CHP units of this scale and specification are typically sought by facilities and energy managers looking to add or replace on-site generation capacity, rather than commit to the cost and lead time of new equipment.
Buying decommissioned but well-documented plant like this is one of the more practical applications of a circular economy approach to industrial assets, and our guide to buying used assets at auction covers what to check before bidding on equipment of this kind.
